Save the Dates for Children’s Egg Hunt and Cave Quest!

All are welcome at these upcoming events for children hosted by Shepherd of the Valley (SOV) Lutheran Church in Groton. We’ll have our 11th Annual Easter Egg Hunt & Easter Story program on Saturday, April 8th beginning at 10 am. The children will gather eggs filled with goodies and hear a story filled with love. Looking farther ahead, Cave Quest Adventure, our Vacation Bible School (VBS) program, is taking place July 24th to 28th at SOV – with awesome decorations, it will feel like you’re walking into a cave complete with stalactites and stalagmites! This will be the perfect setting to explore the theme of God’s light in our lives. There will be Spelunker Science and Cave Crafts along with Cavern Games and Treats for children ages 4 to 4th grade grads. The registration form for Cave Quest Adventure.

A FREE Christmas Event for Children and Their Families

Looking for a great way to start the Christmas/Advent season with your kids? On Sunday afternoon, December 4th, children dressed as sheep will join their parents (dressed as shepherds) and flock to “Bethlehem” to witness the birth of Jesus, as they participate in a dramatic re-telling of the Christmas story, acted and narrated by Shepherd of the Valley adults and youth. SOV Vacation Bible School this summer will take place July 25th to the 29th from 9 am until Noon. Hope you can join us as we journey with Joseph from prison to palace. We will learn about ancient Egypt and how God sent Jacob’s son Joseph there in a remarkable way. His brothers threw him in a pit and plotted to sell him, but God protected him and later saved the entire household of Jacob from famine through Joseph’s privileged position in Pharaoh’s court.

On Saturday morning, March 19th, Shepherd of the Valley Lutheran Church will host its 10th Annual East Egg Hunt and Easter Storytelling for children third grade and younger. We will hunt for eggs, sing and hear the story of Holy Week. Arrival time and singing will start at 10:15 and the storytelling will begin at 10:30. A Christmas Event for Children and Parents
Sunday, December 6th, 2-4 p.m.

Community children (ages 3 and older) and their families are invited to experience a dramatic re-telling of the story of Jesus’ birth by participating in the story as sheep or shepherds.  Children who participate will have an opportunity to make a star ornament of their own, as well as to enjoy star cookies and other goodies.
