Before coming to the narrative of Christ’s birth, there is a dramatic conversation which takes place between a priest called Zechariah and the angel Gabriel. One day Zechariah was serving in the temple when the angel Gabriel appeared to him. Zechariah was very afraid but Gabriel spoke to him saying, ‘Do not be afraid. Your prayer has been heard.’ Gabriel continued to tell Zechariah that he and his wife would have a son and they were to name him John. Listening to Christmas songs over the years has raised some questions. Who is Bob in the lyric “And bells on Bob’s tail ring?” Who is good King Wenceslas? Did you know that one of the most popular versions of “Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer” was sung by the California Raisins? In what song is Parson Brown mentioned? A Christmas Event for Children and Parents
Sunday, December 6th, 2-4 p.m.
Community children (ages 3 and older) and their families are invited to experience a dramatic re-telling of the story of Jesus’ birth by participating in the story as sheep or shepherds. Children who participate will have an opportunity to make a star ornament of their own, as well as to enjoy star cookies and other goodies.
